TX-NR696:Troubleshooting: USB Port
Video or audio is unstable when a streaming device is connected to the USB port of the AVR for power supply. The power output capacity of the AVR's USB port is 5V/1A. If the device’s power requirements exceed this limit, it may not function stably.
In such cases, you will need to use the adapter provided with your streaming device for the source to have stability in Audio/Video playback.

My Receiver can't access the Onkyo remote menu and the speakers will not play using hdmi or analog sound.
Hello Craig,
As far as the menu, are you referring to the Remote ID you can't access? If that is not correct, please provide more information about the menu that you are not able to access. For the no sound, are you seeing the speaker icons on the left hand side of the front display? If you are not, then I would recommend resetting the receiver, if you have not done that already. The reset process is done on the front panel of the unit while it is on. Hold down the Cable/Sat button and then the Standby button. The unit will say clear and it will turn off. Power the unit back on and see if you are able to 1. try to get into the menu of the receiver and 2. if you are able to get into the menu, go into the 2-Speaker Configuration to the 2-4 Level Calibration to run through the speaker test tone. Let me know if the reset process corrected your issue.
Thank you
Jennifer
