Hi, I have a problem with updating.
The update R134-1213-1250-0031 is suggested to me. When I start the update via NET, the percentage display runs up to 89%, then an Erro code "7-20 Error!" appears.
I then unplugged the device and tried the whole thing again, with the same result.
If I now select Update via USB, exactly the same thing happens, even if no stick is inserted at all.
Resetting to factory settings does not change the problem. Help needed!
regards
When I use network or USB it always fails at 31% and says 2-23
Hello Lucas,
Prior to doing the update to the unit, was the unit operational? Like are you getting audio and video through the unit? Also what is the current firmware that the receiver have? The firmware update that you are using on the USB, where are you getting it from?
Thank you
Jennifer

Hello Jaguar27347,
My apologizes that your TXNR656 is having an issue. Unfortunately, we would not be able to provide internal repair assistance. The unit would have to be brought into an authorized service center to be evaluated on what needs repairing. But looking into the parts for this unit, unfortunately due to the age of the receiver the parts are no longer available for repairing.
Thank you
Jennifer
Hello Jennifer,
The devices are all working properly. The current firmware version of the receiver is R100-0910-1x40-0029. The firmware update used by the USB was obtained through the official website, but it happened 1 year ago.
I want to update the firmware because I'm experiencing some compatibility issues and want to see if a firmware update can resolve them.

Hello Jennifer,
I downloaded the ONKAVR002E_0038_R140.zip update using your FW path, but it still crashes at 31% with error 2-23
Hello Lucas,
Thank you for the information. From what you are mentioning this is showing that there is a hardware issue and would need to go into a service center for an evaluation. Here is our authorized service center link: https://onkyo.com/service-centers that you can either ship or bring the unit to service. If you have a receipt for the unit the service center will validate the warranty. If you are out of the warranty then the service center will provide you with pricing for the parts and labor.
Thank you
Jennifer
Hello Jennifer,
I have Onkyo Tx nr656, I am facing unique issue, I am not able to access few options on the setting menu, like firmware update, Bluetooth, Net, Wifi options etc options (under miscellaneous) it's 'shows initializing'. I tried resetting and forced update via usb and LAN it's gives me 0-81 error (I am not sure if usb port or even LAN is working or powering up or not or it's just corrupt memory chip causing these issue because of firmware update). HDMI output is working perfectly fine as well as audio output is good from all of the terminals.
Thank You
Thank you
Hello Sonu Kumar,
I'm sorry that you are experiencing an issue with the TXNR656. Unfortunately, this is an internal issue with the unit that firmware wouldn't be able to correct. Also due to the age of the TXNR656 there is no parts available for the unit to get repaired.
Thank you
Jennifer
Would you please send me the firmware file for the TX-NR656?
Hello 魏超
May I have the firmware version that the receiver is showing at the current moment? Are you experiencing any issues with the receiver?
Thank you
Jennifer
I have a Onkyo receiver TX-NR 797, that requires firmware update, I have tried direct ethernet modem update, wireless update, and USB update, none would work only error codes, I called Onkyo for help, and was told there's nothing more I can do...Onkyo sucks, taking my money to Yamaha!
Hello Ron,
I have investigated your issue and the phone call that you had. Question, what is the current firmware that you have with the unit? When trying to apply the firmware via the wired or the usb, what were the errors codes that you are getting? Also, was there an issue with the unit originally that you wanted to apply the firmware to the unit?
Thank you
Jennifer
